Focus Adjustment: Samsung in an HD state of mind
January 15, 2009 by Derek
It seems like a no-brainer: Korean electronics giant Samsung is turning their focus on HD and related technologies to counter lowering sales and diminished returns on gadgets the second half of last year. The company wants to launch a wide portfolio of such products in 2009, such as TV, camera and home theatre, which is no doubt where the future is for the company.
The company has projected that audio-visual segment of the business will account for 50% of their profit this coming year, where it only made up 30% of their revenue last year. That sort of makes it necessary to focus their development and marketing efforts in that direction. Just call them (and us) Captain Obvious.
In fact, the company projects that LCD sales will make 25% of their total electronics business next year, so technology should move forward pretty quickly, usually the case when money is involved. Samsung has a solid track record of making very nice TV’s (they’ve been tops in Amazon sales for months now), so this is good news for consumers.
