LG XCanvas Plasma HDTV to debut in Korea soon

lg_bobos_pdp_tv-379x480LG Korea have devious plans for their latest high-spec plasma HDTVs (with eye-popping specs), the oddly-named Xcanvas “bobos” PDP TV 50PQ60D and 42PQ60D. They’re expected to be some of the most advanced Plasmas TV’s LG has ever made, and (hopefully) they do well enough to have them make the migration to other shores.

To be released in Korea in a few weeks or so, the 42-inch and 50-inchers have amazingly high contrast and response rates of 1,000,000,000:1 and the 600MHz respectively, which is simply unbelieveable. There’s also an auto-light sensor that dims the backlight when needed according to environment and can slash 60% off the energy an average HDTV uses. Add 4 HDMI connections and a reasonable price ($1,400 USD for the 42 and $2,000 for 50) and these should fly off the shelves.

We hope they’ll send these to other parts of the world soon. All we can do right now is drool.
