satellitedish25There was a time when a cable or satellite system added one or two channels in a month, and that was a very big deal. Nowadays, a few dozen in a week is pretty commonplace, which is good for HD lovers everywhere.

Here’s a few highlights of the HD channel expansions last week:

  • Time Warner Cable in NY now offers 100 HD channels as of Feb. 5th, and plans to add more soon.
  • AT&T’s long-awaited expansion of U-Verse in Southern CA finally has happened, and they now offer 85 HD channels in most So Cal areas. They’re also adding more HD channels in several markets, including 10 or so in Austin, TX.
  • Comcast is planning major additions in the next several weeks, including 18 channels in Vermont. More channels are planning to be rolled out to many other markets soon.

So you can that choice will soon become the watchword as far as HD programming, and the options will continue to grow as bandwidth increases, especially when the DTV transition happens.
