Landmark: LG hits the million 32″ LCD sold mark in Europe
March 21, 2009 by Derek
Many people said that large LCD TV’s wouldn’t ever really catch on in Europe. Different lifestyles, less disposable income, and a host of other reasons. LG proved all the naysayers wrong by announcing they’ve crossed the 1 million sold mark with their 32″ LCD TVs.
Reportedly, the model– which was released April 2008 — is sold in 26 European territories, and the mark is an LG record since it began selling sets in Europe in 1999. A company official stated that since its debut, it has sold over 100,000 units per month, and quote: “the key was to design a luxurious model specially to meet the refined tastes of European consumers.”
Yes, it’s market speak, but it shows that LG isn’t to be trifled with, even outside the US, and that LCD sales and demand are still pretty strong.
