Wireless HD? Maybe Soon: The Belkin FlyWire
April 16, 2009 by Derek
Why people don’t take wireless HD / HDMI seriously, we’ll never know. Well, we sorta know…no one has been able to really buy it, and they keep delaying its release. Hard to take something seriously when you’ve never seen it in the wild.
It’s been 15 months since Belkin’s FlyWire was shown at CES 2008, and according to inside reports, its being delayed once again. When its launched, it promised the consumer universe a device that would take several HDMI devices and stream them directly to your HDTV with no wires at all. Great stuff.
The box itself uses AMIMON’s WHDI technology, and reports indicate it works wonderfully well. The new ship is date is, get this – August 2009.
According to Belkin, this is a fairly definite date, and the rather high $1,499 price will remain in place. How can technology be widely adopted if its out of reach for the majority of the population?
