Roundball in HD: Fox VP outlines HD Soccer plans

April 17, 2009 by

fox_soccer_channel_logoEver since FSN made it’s all HD, all the time 2009 announcement, soccer (or football as its known around the world) fans have wanted to know if its coming to their stations and regions, and the New York Times has the scoop on what will transpire as the UEFA League comes to Fox TV.

Fox Sports VP David Sternberg announced the bad news: Fox Soccer Channel won’t be HD until the end of the year (bummer for futbol fans), and a steady stream of HD games won’t show up until February 2010.

Well, there’s a ray of sunshine in this: we can expect broadcasts of true HD feeds, rather than upconverted SD feeds seen via ESPN sometimes. Broadband viewers can expect streaming from Setanta TV stations, so if you don’t have FSC yet, you can still catch lots of soccer in HD in the future.
