HD News: CBS ups the HD ante with 1080p gallery of materials
Online streaming is really beginning to come into its own with the increasingly widespread adoption of broadband internet, but we haven’t seen a lot of HD material being streamed online really. CBS is looking to change that sad fact.
They’re now offering full episodes in up to 1080p resolution in its HD gallery on CBS.com and TV.com as well. Up until now, only iTunes offered a large amount of HD shows available for viewing (and even worse, those have to be purchased).
No doubt that Hulu has inspired CBS to step up their game a bit (and they offer only 720p in its very limited HD Gallery), though from trying it out a bit its clearly a converted Flash format, not quite “pure HD” format. Still, the quality is as smooth and sharp as any other site out there right now.
