One More Down: TWC dropping HDNet from their lineup

Support for HD just for HD’s sake is waning, it appears. This could be good and bad, depending on how you look at it.
Time Warner Cable announced they’re dropping HDNet and HDNet Movies on all of its tiers, effective May 31, mostly due to lagging viewership.
Hopefully, it won’t go the way that MOJO HD did, especially since we’ve heard of the network eyeing Comcast as a new destination soon, but TWC PR person Robyn Watson isn’t so sure, being quoted as saying “being in HD is not enough.” In a way, we agree…so-so programming in HD is still mediocre programming, regardless of its resolution.
Still, new HD networks are launching; witness the “24×7 HD Network for men” MavTV, which is launching on TWC’s HD Xtra tier at the start of June or so.
