Study: Many accidents in home involve flat-panel TVs

In the past, it was mostly kids leaving fingerprints on the screen during some episode of a favorite kids show, now its kids being crushed by flat-panel TVs. Now this study has us interested.

This study speaks about an increased number of furniture accidents involving kids and involves flat panel displays some of the time. According to this dubious study, almost 50% of accidents reported involved a flat-panel TV on a child in some way or another. The furniture it was on isn’t covered, though we’d be willing to gamble that much of it involved really cheap particle-board style pieces.

The end analysis: Make sure the TV is set up securely if kids are going to ring up heavy traffic in front of your super-thin masterpiece of modern engineering, lest you be pulling your child out from under it at some point.
