Sneak Peek: LG LH-Series Wireless HDTV is sent to FCC
June 11, 2009 by Derek
Yes, they’re coming: wireless HDTVs from LG. And they could change all the rules when it comes to hooking stuff up to a TV.
They made their debut in South Korea a month or so ago to good reviews so far, and it appears they’re headed to US shores very soon. Pictured is the 55LH85 HDTV, sitting in an FCC approval room.
Of course, the big deal with these units is the ASW1000 Media Box, which has three HDMI jacks, 2 component inputs, antenna in, and VGA, all of which it can beam wirelessly to the set from up to 32.8 feet away at 60GHz. It sounds extremely cool…assuming it works well.
The only caveat: It needs line of sight to work, so you can’t throw it deep into a corner or tuck it somewhere unobtrusive. It will bounce the signal off walls, but placing it too close to the TV isn’t the best idea. We can’t wait to see these on shelves and see how they work. We’ll bring you news as these as they arrive.
