samsung55intvA new report recently released from Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing has some good news for HDTV lovers who’ve been waiting for the adoption rate to tick up more; half of US homes have seen the light and it is good.

According to the report, in 2009, over 53% of US homes report that they own one or more HDTVs, and that’s an 18% jump since 2008. 18% is huge, folks.

Good news on the HDTV content front that we’ve always complained about too: 69% of the HDTV owners now subscribe to HD content/packages from their providers, and that’s compared to 56% last year at this time. So people are getting the picture (literally).

Other tidbits: 71% of homes now own a computer of some sort, and 40% own a video game console.
