The Thin Race Continues: Samsung debuts thinnest-ever (again) LCD TV
October 26, 2009 by Derek
Yes, the “thin panel” race in HDTV LCD panels is getting a little ridiculous right now, but hey, it seems that’s what people want, so by gosh, they’re getting it. And Samsung has fired yet another volley in the thinnest-ever LCD race.
What measures 3.9-mm thin? No, not the typical Korean models showing this stuff off, though that’s not too far from the truth; this time, however, its Samsung’s latest LED backlit LCD with 120Hz refresh and 5,000:1 reported contrast too. Now thinner than two pencils; that’s pretty crazy.
And yes, that makes it the world’s thinnest LCD panel – beating LG’s 5.9-mm thick LCDs, which previously held the record. No word on price or availability aside from “soon”, where it should debut in Korea/Asia first, then travel here.
