Finally, after a long and painful wait, BBC America HD has been launched on Time Warner Cable in New York, so you’ll be able to catch your favs in HD quite soon.
This news comes as part of a channel reorganization that also unleashed HSN HD, Headline News HD, Outdoor Channel HD and Turner Classic Movies HD onto subscribers in a pretty good package of additions for HD lovers.
Primeval, Dr. Who and Torchwood are among the geeky favs we want to see, but no word as to exactly what will air in which format, so we’ll keep wishing and hoping this shows up on more cable systems as time goes along.
Don’t you hate all that “coming soon” business? It seems anything people really want, its always stuck in “coming soon” mode for long periods of time, with little progress. Such is the case with BBC America’s HD launch, which has been in neutral for awhile now.
BBC America’s HD launch, well…launched, but it hasn’t gone off with any sort of bang, since it isn’t really carried anywhere yet, based on our last check.
The only thing the channel will say is that “they are in negotiations”, and people who watch the channel are getting increasingly frustrated by the lack of urgency being shown by the parent company. Hopefully, they’ll get it in gear soon and bring Dr. Who and other fine over the pond shows here soon, and in glorious 1080 HD, the way they should be shown.
