lg-x-canvasAre built-in DVRs good for HDTVs as a whole? Opinion is rather divided on the subject, but that hasn’t stopped LG from releasing a new series of Plasma TVs with DVRs built right in.

Over a year after first launching units with an integrated ‘Time Machine’ of sorts, the company is returning with two new giant screen Plasma sets that have 160GB internal hard drives built-in. It’s a bold move that many companies haven’t been willing to make, due to the above mentioned division of thoughts on the subject.

The name? The X Canvas 50PS70 (50″) and 60PS70 (60″) plat panels also include pretty sharp sounding 600Hz dejudder technology and are capable of recording overflow content on external drives connected via USB 2.0. Sounds good to us.

Price and availability details are pretty limited, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more details about these. Surely we can’t be the only ones who finds this a pretty cool idea?
