That’s 31% off the normal list price, and its currently the number 1 HDTV seller on the site for a very good reason.

We’ve seen some interesting patterns among the top sellers of late. Mostly LG and Samsung (the former title holder for Amazon top seller) have jockeyed for the top position on the popular merchant destination on the web, and its only this week that finally LG has claimed the crown for top seller.

Here’s the link to the site to check out the sale, grab it while its hot!

Witness this new creation that was announced recently:

Remember the world’s thinnest bezel separation touted by Sharp just this past June? Forget about it. Samsung has bested its Japanese competitor with the unveiling of a new 55-inch Digital Information Display panel that features bezels of 3.8mm on the top and left edges and 1.9mm on the bottom and right, leading to a positively svelte 5.7mm distance between the content of neighboring displays. That good stuff is augmented with Full HD resolution and a blinding 700 nits of brightness. There’ll also be a 46-inch model that offers a 7.6mm separation (hint: that’s still pretty damn thin), though we’ve yet to learn on when and where aspiring home cinema nuts might be able to obtain either screen.

No prices announced yet either, but the pic here stirs the imagination for certain. We’ll bring more news when it becomes available.

Both were displayed in Korea yesterday, though the US website only features a page for only the 50-inch PN50C680 up until now, boasting its 1080p specs and DLNA access for users to drool over. You will give up a few features typical of higher end plasmas, which add picture-in-picture, a higher contrast ratio and slimmer design to the feature list.

The PN50C490′s setup isn’t as clear, but popular HDTV blog FlatpanelsHD reports it will be the very first 720p 3DTV of this generation. With current series 4 plasmas selling for around $700 or so, it could also be the first flat 3D set to crack the $1,000 barrier at a estimated MSRP of $1,099, meaning many vendors will sell them under that, more than likely — if the 720p doesn’t bother you (may not at these price points).

How’s this: a Samsung 720p Black Plasma 42″ HDTV with lots of features for only $539, with (possible) free shipping? Now that really takes the cake. I remember paying $1200 for a HDTV similar to this just barely 2 years ago, now its less than half of that price. So much for Plasma being dead too; its still alive and kicking, and popular among many groups. Ratings for the TV on Amazon are very good too.

Some industry pundits have 42″ sets falling under $500 by years end, which would be truly remarkable. Just a year ago a set like would have ran $700-800 easily, and prices should continue to fall further in the months and years to come.

Here’s the link to the listing: Link

And now the fruits of their labor have been released, officially. More from the web:

If you’ve been waiting for a plasma 3DTV and Panasonic’s VT25 isn’t your speed (we don’t know how you feel about deep, deep black levels, but c’mon, who can turn down Coraline?) then take a look at Samsung’s C7000 line, now in stock (on schedule) pretty much everywhere. The 50-inch PN50C7000 is available for a cool $1,650 at Amazon, $1,797 at Vanns and $1,799 at Best Buy. The 63-inch will cost $3,000 from Amazon, while the 58-inch model is $2,350. Upgrading to the C8000 series and their high end home theater tweaks like Real Black Filter and Motion Judder Canceller (we’ll see how well they actually work) raises the price to $3,417, $2,483 & $2,067 for the 63-inch, 58-inch and 50-inch models, respectively. They all have Samsung Apps and grabbing a 3D Blu-ray before you hit the check out nets a couple of pairs of glasses and a copy of Monsters vs. Aliens just to get you started.

We’ll keep you updated as this line develops, but we’d say Sammy is the front runner in getting their product in front of many 3D-awaiting eyes these days.

New reports are indicating that Panasonic and Samsung were going to pass on Sony / Google / Intel’s Google TV initiative as being too expensive to make, but a report today released by the Korea Herald indicates that may not be the case, and that they’re seriously reconsidering powered by Android HDTV as a very real option.

While LG has stated it “has not considered” producing a Google TV, the newspaper states an executive from Samsung says they are looking into making Android-powered HDTVs at some point in the future. It could signal a new wave of Android powered TVs and a new movement in the industry at large.

We estimate three or four more rumors with varying degrees of reliability before we hear anything official from Samsung or Panasonic themselves.
